Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about renting a dumpster in Flint

General Questions

Do you offer trash can pickup service?

No. We do NOT offer weekly trash can pickup or curbside waste collection services.

We specialize exclusively in roll-off dumpster rentals for temporary projects like renovations, cleanouts, roofing, construction, and business needs. Our dumpsters are delivered to your location, you fill them on your schedule, and we pick them up when you're done.

For ongoing trash service with weekly cans, you'll need to contact a residential waste hauler.

What is a roll-off dumpster?

A roll-off dumpster is a large, open-top waste container that's delivered on a special truck and "rolled off" onto your property. These are the rectangular dumpsters you see at construction sites and renovation projects. Sizes range from 10 to 40 cubic yards, and they're designed for temporary use during specific projects.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

Our standard rental period is 7 days, which works for most projects in Genesee County. Need more time? We offer flexible extensions—just give us a call before your rental period ends. Extended rental fees apply for periods beyond 7 days, and we'll provide clear pricing upfront.

What size dumpster do I need?

The right size depends on your project:

  • 10-yard: Small cleanouts, minor renovations, 1-2 rooms
  • 15-yard: Medium cleanouts, single-room remodels
  • 20-yard: Most popular—roofing, multi-room renovations
  • 30-yard: Large renovations, major construction
  • 40-yard: New builds, major demolitions, commercial projects

Ordering & Delivery

How quickly can you deliver?

We typically offer next-day delivery throughout Genesee County. For urgent needs, call us in the morning at (810) 373-5865 and we'll do our best to accommodate same-day delivery based on truck availability and your location.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Flint and all of Genesee County, including Burton, Grand Blanc, Davison, Swartz Creek, Fenton, Flushing, Mount Morris, Clio, Linden, and surrounding communities. See our complete service area coverage for specific cities.

How do I prepare for delivery?

To ensure smooth delivery:

  • Clear the delivery area of vehicles, equipment, and obstacles
  • Ensure overhead clearance (watch for low-hanging wires or branches)
  • Provide at least 60 feet of clearance for the delivery truck
  • Mark any sprinklers, septic systems, or underground utilities
  • If on the street, check permit requirements with your city

Placement & Permits

Can I put the dumpster in my driveway?

Yes. Driveways are the most common placement location and typically don't require permits. We recommend placing boards or plywood under the dumpster to protect your driveway surface from potential scuffing. Our dumpsters have rubber wheels and we take care during placement, but extra protection is always a good idea for newer or sealed driveways.

Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?

It depends on placement:

  • On your property (driveway, yard): Typically NO permit needed
  • On the street or public right-of-way: Usually YES, permit required

Permit requirements vary by city. Check with your local municipality (City of Flint, Burton, Grand Blanc, etc.) if you need street placement. We're happy to provide the information they'll need, but obtaining the permit is the customer's responsibility.

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

Our dumpsters have protective rubber wheels to minimize surface impact. However, for extra protection on asphalt, decorative pavers, or newly sealed driveways, we recommend placing 3/4" plywood boards beneath the dumpster wheels. This distributes the weight and prevents any marking. If you're concerned about your specific surface, call us and we'll discuss the best protection options.

What Can Go In the Dumpster

What items are prohibited?

Prohibited items include:

  • Hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, solvents, oil, gasoline)
  • Automotive fluids and batteries
  • Electronics (TVs, computers, monitors)
  • Appliances with Freon (refrigerators, AC units, freezers)
  • Tires
  • Medical waste
  • Asbestos or contaminated materials

If you're unsure whether something is acceptable, call us at (810) 373-5865 before loading it. We'll help you find proper disposal options for prohibited materials.

Can I put heavy materials in the dumpster?

Yes, with restrictions. Heavy materials like concrete, brick, dirt, asphalt, and shingles are acceptable, but they have weight limits that differ from regular debris.

Important: Always call us before ordering if you have heavy materials. We'll recommend the appropriate dumpster size and explain weight restrictions. Heavy loads often require a smaller dumpster (like a 10 or 15-yard) to stay within legal weight limits for transport. Overage fees apply if weight limits are exceeded.

Can I mix different types of debris?

Yes, you can mix general construction and household debris in the same dumpster. However, don't mix regular debris with heavy materials like concrete or dirt—these typically need separate containers due to weight restrictions. When in doubt, call us for guidance on what can be combined.
